Novel cannabinoid release system: Encapsulation of a cannabidiol precursor into γ-cyclodextrin metal-organic frameworks

γ-Cyclodextrin-metal-organic frameworks (γ-CD-MOFs) are developed as a new promising and biocompatible material, which shows great potential for drug delivery system (DDS) applications. γ-CD-MOFs were successfully synthesized using microwave-assisted technique from different potassium sources (KOH, KCl KNO3). The encapsulation of olivetol (OLV) into these materials was investigated an innovative model DDS cannabinoids. Loading OLV in performed by impregnation co-crystallization methods. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) employed to study the structural properties γ-CD-MOF samples, showing typical cubic crystals case KOH trigonal morphologies KNO3. Olivetol content determined UV–Vis spectrophotometry its interaction with Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy analysis (ATR-FTIR). significantly higher when or KNO3 combination method, while method really poor. For first time, loaded cannabinoids they could be considered novel strategy compounds.
